Saturday, June 13, 3-7pm
The day begins from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM with the dedication of the new WUWU studio to Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, longtime Detroit Catholic bishop, peace activist, and advocate for workers, immigrants, and social justice causes. Seating for this portion of the event is limited and RSVP is required.
As part of the dedication, attendees will view the short documentary American Prophet, which highlights Bishop Gumbleton’s life and legacy. Film director Jasmine Rivera will attend the event along with members of the Gumbleton family.
At 3pm, the doors will open to the general public with the opening of the Waterborne exhibit –
From 3–5 PM, WUWU DJs will broadcast live with special programming from the new studio and attendees are welcome to pop in and request a song.
At 3:30 PM, the public is invited to gather for welcome remarks, donor recognition, and an official ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the Heritage Center and the community effort that made it possible.
Beginning at 4:00 PM, the celebration continues outdoors with live music featuring The M-22s and the Benzie Buskers, along with food and children’s activities.
